About

As a journalist for over 30 years, Ryan Anderson is well versed in bringing stories of all shapes and sizes to life. As a third-generation aerospace worker who watched countless space shuttle launches while growing up in Florida, Ryan is especially well versed in telling stories about the world of aerospace. Ryan’s views on the highs and lows of the aerospace field were forged after witnessing the tragedy of the Space Shuttle Challenger from the school recess field as an elementary student, and later playing a small part in the triumph of the Return to Flight effort following the loss of Space Shuttle Columbia.

Ryan earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Journalism from the University of Central Florida (UCF) with a minor in Advertising/Public Relations. He also earned a Master of Science (M.S.) Degrees in Sport Management from Houston Christian University.

Fulfilling a life-long goal, Ryan is on track to graduate in December 2023 with a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Mass Communication with a concentration in Public Interest Communication and Social Media from the University of Florida.

Ryan is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), various alumni associations, and the Baseball Bloggers Association. Ryan is also involved in various non-profit organizations and is especially active in efforts to save the habitats for Florida manatees.

In addition to serving as host and chief content creator for The Aerospace Historian, Ryan also manages and creates content for the websites JRyanAnderson.com, BallparksBeachesandBeyond.com, SouthpawMusings.com and AcmeCoffeeKlatch.com.

During his career, Ryan has been recognized by the Texas Press Association (TPA) with a First Place Award for News Writing, and a Third Place Award for Column Writing, in addition to a First Place in column writing recognition from the Florida Press Women and other organizations.
